Violin Repair Program Instructors
• Steve Rossow
Steve Rossow’s work as a professional luthier is grounded in a love of music, a knowledge of stringed instrument history, structure, and physiology, a commitment to excellence in design and function, and a creative drive to explore and innovate.
After earning diplomas from the Guitar Repair & Building and Violin Repair programs in 2002, Steve Rossow apprenticed with luthier John R. Waddle in Saint Paul, under whom he studied violin making and restoration. He also set up his own shop, building, restoring and repairing fine violins and building guitars and mandolins.
Returning to MSC Southeast as a full time instructor in 2010, Steve designed a curriculum for incorporating CNC work into lutherie. He now teaches violin construction and repair as well as computer-aided drafting in the MSC Southeast string instrument programs.
