Outdoor Activites in the Red Wing Area
With its jagged limestone bluffs, hiking and biking trails and rivers large and small the Red Wing area is very attractive to those who enjoy the outdoors.
• Barns Bluff has some of the most spectacular hiking and rock climbing in the state. The 350-foot cliff features moderate to hard technical climbs and a historic stairway leading the way to the top.
• Memorial Park, located at the top of Sorins Bluff, is accessible by car. Once on the bluffs summit, visitors have the option of playing Frisbee golf, picnicking, hiking and biking.
• Colville Park in Red Wing is known for Bald Eagle viewing during the winter months, with regularly scheduled weekend viewing sessions. It is also home to a marina and public swimming pool.
• Located about 10 miles south of Red Wing, Frontenac State Park offers over 13 miles of hiking trails with beautiful views of wild flowers, migrating birds and bald eagles.
Cannon Valley Trail
Following along the beautiful Cannon River, the Cannon Valley Trail runs 19.7 miles from Red Wing to Cannon Falls, designed for hiking, biking, inline skating and cross country skiing.
